چکیده

RESULTS OF INVESTIGATIONS performed on animals indicate that halothane anaesthesia increases the sensitivity of the myocardial tissues to epinephrine. 1-s In man, ventricular arrhythmias may follow the use of the epinephrine. ~'7 This investigation was undertaken to study the usefulness of an adrenergic/3-receptor blocking agent (Pronethalol)f in preventing and/or correcting cardiac arrhythmias produced by epinephrine infusion during halothane anaesthesia.

Selective beta 1 and beta 2 adrenoceptor blockade on epinephrine-induced arrhythmias in halothane anaesthetized dogs.

Beta 2 as well as beta 1 adrenoceptors have been recognized in the heart of vertebrates. They mediate a positive chronotropic action of catecholamines. We compared the effect of selective beta 1 and beta 2 adrenoceptor antagonists on the genesis of halothane-epinephrine arrhythmias in dogs. The arrhythmogenic dose (AD) of epinephrine was increased in the presence of l-metoprolol, a selective be...

Ability of glucagon to produce cardiac stimulation without arrhythmias in halothane-anaesthetized animals.

The cardiovascular effects of glucagon were determined in cats and dogs anaesthetized with halothane. Glucagon increased heart rate and myocardial contractility but did not produce ventricular arrhythmias. Adrenaline and isoprenaline, which also increased heart rate and myocardial contractility, did produce ventricular arrhythmias. The cardiac stimulant effects of glucagon were not prevented by...

Selective adrenergic beta-receptor blockade in the prevention of adrenaline-evoked ventricular arrhythmias in dogs anaesthetized with halothane in oxygen.

The effect of selective beta-receptor blockade on adrenaline-evoked ventricular arrhythmias was studied in atropinized dogs anaesthetized with halothane in oxygen. Cardiac beta-receptors were selectively blocked with ICI 50172, while the peripheral vascular beta-receptors were selectively blocked with H 35/25. ICI 50172 prevented adrenaline-evoked ventricular arrhythmias and the increase in sin...

Comparative efficacy of antiarrhythmic agents in preventing halothane-epinephrine arrhythmias in rats.

BACKGROUND Because the relative efficacy of antiarrhythmic agents on halothane-epinephrine arrhythmias has not been well characterized, this study was undertaken to comparatively evaluate the antiarrhythmic action of Na(+)-, K(+)- and Ca(2+)-channel blockers on epinephrine-induced ventricular arrhythmias during halothane anesthesia in rats. METHODS Rats were anesthetized at random with either...

Effect of oxprenolol on adrenaline-evoked ventricular arrhythmias in dogs anaesthetized with halothane in oxygen.

The effect of oxprenolol (CIBA 39,089-Ba), a recently introduced adrenergic betareceptor antagonist, on adrenaline-evoked ventricular arrhythmias was studied in atropinized dogs anaesthetized with halothane in oxygen. The anti-arrhythmic activity of oxprenolol was due to specific blockade of beta-receptors. The block produced was surmountable in nature and larger doses of adrenaline re-evoked v...
